Sunday sew up

  I know it's Monday, but these were sewn up yesterday so technically still a Sunday Sew up!  Another three "Rille" shirts from Ottobre 6/2008 in sz 80 this time with seam allowances added.

The brown polka dot knit is from Spotlight, a purchase I made about 3 years ago.  It's really nice and the polka dots are raised  so the material has a nice feel to it too.  The blue ribbing is from my recent church fete haul.  I wanted to use the blue and brown together after seeing a short sleeve top (in brown polka dot) in one of the Ottobres a few years ago. I thought it made such a great combo and luckily I already had the material before the Otto issue came out ( see I had pre emptive good taste!)

A close up of the top stitching . I used my twin stretch needle for the neck and also the sleeves.


Next Rille tee is made up of a gorgeous pirate knit from my favourite place- The Crafty Mamas Shop.
I actually bought it to make something up for Fletch when he was a baby. Ooops.  Ribbing is also from my recent fete haul.

Master E loves his dad's motorbike. As soon as he spots it he is on his way over to it.

Next Rille tee is in a heavier fleecy knit  just perfect for a winter pyjama top.  Super warm and snuggly. Pyjama pants to come.

A major tantrum ensued, complete with high pitched squealing, lots of pointing  and even some crying - but no tears!

My sewjo has been on hiatus since March. It's been a never ending battle with sickness, household chores and well lets face it, everyday life with 5 kids.

But Sunday night I got the urge (right about 9pm) to sew something!
After scouring my Otto's I decided on three pieces for Elliott to wear out the very next day.

So I only finished two of the three things, but in my defence it was after 1 am when I packed my gear away.

Item #1 was the "Rille" raglan sleeve tee from Otto 6/2008 in sz 80 (without seam allowance added). It's a great fit too and so easy to whip up. I will definitely be making more of these up for E 's winter wardrobe.

Item #2 was the "peikko" furry vest ( minus the fur though lol) from Otto 6/2009 in sz 86. I used a nice warm slightly ribbed winter white knit for this one. I did not put the button and ribbon hook on. I was going for an open vest look but it is slightly too big on him do I am going to add some snaps to the front instead (photo's to come)

Item #3 is the "goofy" tweed pants from Otto 6/2008 in sz 86.
I am using a nice red and grey tartan for these pants. I've only just added the pleats to the front, I still have along way to go to finish them.
I am hoping to get them done tonight. (pictures to come )

It's nice getting back into the swing of things.

Redondo~ a WIP

I decided last night that I would make my two girls a skirt each to wear to my mums today when we went for a mothers day afternoon tea.  I've had this gorgeous pattern for awhile now, tucked away in my sewing cabinet until I felt confident enough to try it out.  This was another pattern I thought would be difficult and fiddly.  Well I was right, it was fiddly, but difficult- not really.

I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it came together too.

 Unfortunately I didn't get them finished in time for my girls to wear them , I still have to put the elastic in and hem the skirts ( rolled hem on both I think would suit just fine) 

Hubby caught me photographing them earlier and said " Hey, you can't blog those yet, you haven't finished them!"  But I am bored, there is nothing on tv, I am too tired to sew tonight and too sore...  So here are my WIP redondo skirts

plus here is the 2nd pair of shorts for Fletch- another WIP as it still needs to be hemmed and the waistband put in.  This was made from 2 fat quarters I picked up at a local quilting store last year.

Very pleased with myself!

No photos as of yet but after about 2 weeks of no sewing I finally got to do some last night. I worked on my raggedy edge quilt that most of the EB sewing ladies have finished already. Fletcher also had (drumroll please..........) a 2 hour nap today so after I did a few things around the house and got Immy & Spence off for a rest, i got straight back into sewing my quilt.
Now I am not finished yet ( only 2 rows to sew on then sew around the entire quilt) but I can see the finish line. *HAPPY DANCE*


I am off to either LC or SL Tomorrow (or both ) because I need

• Tracing paper
• thread snipper ( or whatever the are called ) to snip the edges of my quilt
• Rotary cutter ( I've decided to make another quilt, one as a Christmas Present for August's teacher)
• Invisible Zipper
• Coloured Zippers
• Some bright fresh looking gingham

and of course if there is any fabric on sale that just happens to catch my eye, I might get some as well.

Hopefully either tonight or tomorrow night I shall be able to post photo's of my quilt all sewn up ready to snip and wash, wish me luck!

There was once a woolly jumper....

who no longer was loved, so a crafty mama rescued it from the give away pile and refashioned it into two pairs of warm woolly pants for some rough and tumble boys :)

Spencer was having a sooky day and didn't want to be photographed in his pants, I managed to snap one though before he got cranky at me :)

Well that's all from me tonight, considering it's nearly 1am and I will be up in oh say 5 hours to feed the baby. I think I am going to need toothpicks to keep my eyes open LOL. If only our satellite was working, then I would of had this posted in about 10 minutes instead of the nearly 3 hours (yes you read right, I did say 3 hours!) it has taken.
