Hat's off to...................me

Finally I've gotten some sewjo back!

I have been wanting to pull out the machine for a while now and craft some things but I just couldn't find the motivation.

I think I just needed to laze around on the couch after the kids had gone to bed and read for a few weeks LOL

Anyway when all 4 munchkins and DF went for a sleep after lunch yesterday I decided to get crafty. I whipped up this little hat, from a baby Butterick pattern (5439) in size small. This was just a test hat to see sizing etc.

I thought it would be big enough for Fletch who is 13 mths old, turns out it fits both Miss nearly 7 and Miss nearly5 .

The hat is quite deep and the brim of it is actually wider at the front than the back, so it covers her face properly from the sun. The brim has also got lightweight fusible interfacing as the middle layer to give it some stiffness. Miss nearly 5 has claimed it as her own now.

What a great hat Ali - cute that it fits your five-year-old and she loves it too.
Looking forward to seeing more of these.
