30

So I made it. 30 is apparently a milestone birthday for us women. That dreaded number which makes us feel old.
What can I say about turning 30?

I don't feel it, but then again there are days I feel like I am about 100.

I don't feel as though I've achieved much in my thirty years on this earth, but then all I have to do is look around my house and see my 5 beautiful children and know that I have done something pretty significant in my life already.

Being 30 doesn't scare me.

What scares me is that I should be confident, fit and fabulous, instead I am
self conscious
fat
and flabulous

This should be my year, my decade. I am a young woman. I am done having babies, so I can get my body back. I have a gorgeous husband.
Now is the time for me.

I want it all and I am determined to have it all.
Scrap that, I don't want it all, I want my health and fitness and to be happy and I am determined to have it.

So happy 30th birthday to me for yesterday, you go girl!

T's Redondo

T's Redondo, originally uploaded by fallenfromgrace.

I've been sewing!! EEEEK! I know, it's a miracle.
Last week I finished off the girls redondo's that I started in May last year. August has already worn hers many times but unfortunately I need to make Immy another as she has outgrown hers before she got the chance to wear it. I'm actually thinking about selling it as it is really cute and would be a shame just to sit in a cupboard and not be taken out and twirled in :)

This redondo however, will be worn and twirled in! This is for my future daughter -in-laws third birthday on Monday ( yep I've already got her and Fletcher married off LOL)
I'm going to make a white or pink peasant style top and use the same material on the sleeves..

I will hopefully get a modelled pic to post on Monday.
Have a nice weekend all.

All that water is supposed to be dry land

The title says it all really.

Flooded in again

Flooded in again, originally uploaded by fallenfromgrace.

It's been so long since I last posted, so much has happened and yet so much hasn't happened. We've celebrated Christmas and welcomed in a new year. My baby has had his first birthday and is just about ready to take his first steps by himself. The girls have gone back to school this year and my oldest boy has started prep. I can't say he is loving it yet, but we're getting there.

I thought I'd ease myself back into blogging by sharing two photo's that I took today.

The first is at the bottom of my road. All that water is not supposed to be there. as of 5pm tonight the water was one metre over the road- the highest we've seen it here in 8 years. I am guessing now at 9:30pm it is higher than that. The flooding there is from all the rainfall Maleny had yesterday (219mm). It takes at least 9 hours to reach us so I'll be sure to take my camera down again in the morning to catch the new high level.

Neighbours have seen it up to 2 metres over the road and they were flooded in for 5 days. Maybe we'll beat that record this week?

I finally captured on video why my nickname for Elliott is "Chipmunk".

I hope you get a laugh out of this as much as we do at home :)

Bib and Bottoms for Baby

Sunday, 20 December 2009
I absolutely adore this zoo animal material I bought back when I was pregnant with Elliott to make cot and cradle sheets for him ( when we didn't know we were having a boy).

I used some of it last week to make a matching bib and burp cloth set for a friend who is due very soon with a Christmas babe but I never got around to making Elliott anything with it.

So before we went up to Grandmas' house on Saturday for lunch, I whipped up a quick pair of shorts ( from the Kwik Sew sewing for Baby book) and a matching bib.

I think the shorts turned out great but perhaps a bit too pyjama-ish and I love the length of the bib and the way it doesn't gape or sit too low at the neck the way some bibs can, defeating the purpose of them.

These photo's were taken after he ate so please excuse the beetroot on the bib - what can I say he really enjoyed his lunch!

I was thinking I may whip up a summer weight kimono style pyjama top and use the shorts with them.

Super quick baby gifts

Tuesday, 15 December 2009
Two mums at play group have just had/just about to have their bubs.

So I whipped up some burp cloths and bibs for both

And because we don't yet know the sex of the unborn bub, one set for a boy

and one set for a girl ( this is my favourite!)

( but really they could both be used for either sex)

Don't worry, I gave them all a good pressing before they were gifted.
